Children at a Sandbach primary school are set to be in touch with all their senses – thanks to a pay out from the Co-op Local Community Fund.
Elworth Hall School Association has received £5,163.12 from the Co-op Local Community Fund.
The school in Lawton Way is spending the money on building a sensory garden complete with musical instruments and special plants.
Hannah Parry, chair of Elworth Hall School Association said: "We are delighted to receive funding from the Co-op Local Community Fund.
"We've really enjoyed being a Co-op local cause over the past 12 months, allowing our charity to be more visible in our local community.
"The money awarded will allow us to create an interactive sensory garden at Elworth Hall, which all pupils will benefit from. Thank you to Co-op and Co-op members for supporting us."
Also at the presentation at the Co-op's Lawton Way branch was the school's headteacher, Emma Clark, who said: "We're extremely grateful for the community to support us in this way.
"The sensory garden will be a great addition to the school and will be used by all pupils daily."
Another local cause supported by the Co-op over the last 12 months was Sandbach United Football Club, who received their pay out of £4,855.21 from the Co-op Local Community Fund at the weekend.
For every £1 Co-op members spend on selected Co-op products and services, 2p goes back to members and Co-op gives the same to support community organisations and local causes. You can find out more and become a Co-op Member here.
The money has been raised locally by Co-op members shopping at one of the four Co-ops in Sandbach – Middlewich Road, Lawton Way, The Hill and Saxon Cross petrol station.
With many community causes experiencing funding challenges and a surge in demand, Co-op funds are supporting projects which deliver vital services in their communities around access to food, mental wellbeing support and opportunities for young people.
Co-op Members across the UK have raised £117m, helping 7m people across the UK since 2016.
