Sandblaster/Spray Painter (EXPIRED)

ob Overview: We are seeking a reliable and experienced Sandblaster to work on heavy steel components in our yard. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing large steel structures and equipment for painting or coating by removing rust, scale, old paint, and other surface contaminants using abrasive blasting techniques. Key Responsibilities: Perform abrasive blasting (sandblasting) on heavy steel components including beams, frames, plates, and fabricated structures Operate and maintain blasting equipment, including compressors, blast pots, and nozzles Ensure surfaces are properly cleaned and profiled for coating application Inspect workpieces before and after blasting for quality assurance Adhere to all health and safety procedures, including proper use of PPE Keep blasting area clean and free of debris Work with team members to meet production schedules Assist with loading/unloading steelwork as required Requirements: Previous experience in sandblasting or industrial surface preparation (preferably with heavy steel) Familiarity with blast media, compressor operation, and surface preparation standards (e.g. SA2.5 or SA3) Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions Ability to wear full PPE including blasting helmet and respirator for extended periods Strong attention to detail and work quality Physically fit and able to handle manual tasks Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team Desirable: Forklift or telehandler licence Experience with painting or coating systems Knowledge of ISO or NACE blasting standardsJob Type: TemporaryContract length: 6 monthsPay: £12.50-£16.00 per hourBenefits: On-site parkingExperience: Spray Painting: 1 year (required) Sand Blasting: 1 year (required) Driving a forklift: 1 year (required) Working Outside: 1 year (required)Work Location: In person
