Secondary Teaching Assistant

Are you a compassionate and resilient Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? We are currently seeking a dedicated Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant for a long-term position in a welcoming and inclusive school in the Sandbach (CW11) area.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with pupils who need additional support, helping them to access learning, build confidence, and achieve their full potential.

About the Role:

• Supporting students with SEN, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and communication needs
• Working on a one-to-one basis or in small groups within a secondary classroom setting
• Assisting the class teacher with lesson preparation and adapting materials where necessary
• Monitoring student progress and providing regular feedback to teaching staff and SENCO
• Promoting positive behaviour and encouraging engagement through a nurturing approach
• Helping to create an inclusive, safe, and supportive learning environment for all students

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide tailored support to pupils with additional needs
• Assist in the delivery of differentiated teaching and learning activities
• Build trusting and supportive relationships with students, helping to improve their confidence and independence
• Support classroom routines, behaviour management strategies, and emotional regulation
• Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and external professionals
• Contribute to the assessment and documentation of student progress

Requirements:

• Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, particularly in SEN or secondary school settings
• Understanding of a range of SEN conditions and the ability to adapt support accordingly
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant certificate) are desirable but not essential
• A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one)
• References covering the last 2 years
