Secondary Teaching Assistant
Are you a compassionate and resilient Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? We are currently seeking a dedicated Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant for a long-term position in a welcoming and inclusive school in the Sandbach (CW11) area.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with pupils who need additional support, helping them to access learning, build confidence, and achieve their full potential.
About the Role:
- Supporting students with SEN, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and communication needs
- Working on a one-to-one basis or in small groups within a secondary classroom setting
- Assisting the class teacher with lesson preparation and adapting materials where necessary
- Monitoring student progress and providing regular feedback to teaching staff and SENCO
- Promoting positive behaviour and encouraging engagement through a nurturing approach
- Helping to create an inclusive, safe, and supportive learning environment for all students
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored support to pupils with additional needs
- Assist in the delivery of differentiated teaching and learning activities
- Build trusting and supportive relationships with students, helping to improve their confidence and independence
- Support classroom routines, behaviour management strategies, and emotional regulation
- Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and external professionals
- Contribute to the assessment and documentation of student progress
Requirements:
- Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, particularly in SEN or secondary school settings
- Understanding of a range of SEN conditions and the ability to adapt support accordingly
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant certificate) are desirable but not essential
- A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one)
- References covering the last 2 years
