How to defrost your car safely this week

Frosty Mornings Are Back!
With temperatures dipping again over the next few days, plenty of drivers will be waking up to frozen windscreens.
It's worth giving yourself a few extra minutes in the morning to defrost your car properly and stay safe on the roads.
Start the engine and let the car do the work
Switch on your heater and set it to blow warm air onto the windscreen. Use your front and rear demisters to speed things up and always stay with the car while it's running.
Use a scraper and de-icer
A plastic ice scraper and a quick spray of de-icer will clear the glass far quicker than relying on blowers alone. Make sure every window and your lights are fully clear before setting off.
Skip the shortcuts
Boiling water, warm water, credit cards or anything sharp can damage your windscreen. It might feel quicker, but it could leave you with an expensive repair.

Stop frost building overnight
If you can, pop a cover over your windscreen or place moisture absorbing pads inside the car. It helps reduce freezing and makes your morning start much easier.
As the cold snap continues, taking an extra couple of minutes each morning will help keep you and everyone else safer on the roads.
