Work by students at Sandbach High School and Sixth Form College will go on show this weekend when a special exhibition about WW1 takes place.

Students from the school have contributed 'solider's guides' to the exhibition which is being organised by Cheshire Villages Great War Society.

Cheshire Villages Great War Society has chosen Haslington to hold its World War One (WW1) exhibition this Saturday (November 13) at St. Matthew's Church Hall in Park Road.

The exhibition is a commemoration of those men that fell during the conflict in Europe during WW1.

It is also a hundred years since the War Memorial on Crewe Road was unveiled and this exhibition will feature those brave who failed to return.

There will be WW1 historians on hand to answer questions plus the society's researchers who will have their laptops at the ready.

Also available will be the commemorative booklet featuring all that died in both Great Wars.

Artefacts from the Great War and a display of medical instruments that would have been used on the wounded plus a WW1 ambulance at the entrance to the hall will also be on display.

Sandbach High School and Sixth Form College say they were delighted to help out with the exhibition which was part of a history project.

A spokesperson said: "The project itself saw students researching life in the trenches including daily activities, hygiene, food and battles.

"The aim was for students to understand a soldier's experience on a deeper level and make a 'guide' to life in the trenches.

"They were asked to produce their research in a creative way, and we had such superb responses that we were happy for some of them to be exhibited.

"Students made leaflets, diaries, and shoe boxes (to name but a few) and showed a thorough understanding of a soldier's experience in WWI."

The exhibition opens at 10 am and closes at 5.00 pm. Admission is free and there will be refreshments available.
