Motorists faced diversions after the road between Congleton and Brereton near Sandbach was closed due to a multi-vehicle accident.

Three fire engines, police and the North West Air Ambulance attended the scene this afternoon at 1.40 pm at the Moorhead Lane and Spark Lane junction.

A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "The crew assisted with one casualty at the scene.

"The road was closed in both directions while the incident was ongoing and Cheshire Police and Air Ambulance also attended."
