Shortly before 2.15pm yesterday ( Monday) police were called to reports of a collision in Booth Lane, Moston, Middlewich, near to the junction with Tetton Lane.

The collision involved a black Fiesta ST and a pedal cyclist.

The cyclist, an 11-year-old boy, suffered serious injuries. He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

His family are currently being supported by specialist officers.

Enquiries remain ongoing and as part of the investigation the occupants of the Fiesta have been arrested in relation to the incident.

Sergeant Simon Degg, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "This is an incredibly sad incident in which a young boy has lost his life. Our thoughts remain with his family and friends at this difficult time.

"We would like to appeal to anyone who witnessed this incident and hasn't already spoken to police to get in touch with us.

"The same goes for anyone who may have any footage, including dashcam footage, which could aid our enquiries.
