Sandbach High School and Sixth Form College's CAUC (Complete and Utter Chaos) racing team achieved racing success in a recent race.

The team, comprised of around 20 female students with a passion for engineering and motorsport, secured first and second place in a recent race at Aintree Motor Racing Circuit.

Not only that, CAUC were also awarded the most prestigious The Spirit of GreenPower trophy presented to the team due to the kindness, support and encouragement towards others throughout the day.

The trophy is awarded to the team deemed best by the judges for working through adversity, supporting fellow competitors, and all round holding themselves to a high standard in line with the values of the Greenpower project.

Members of the CAUC team were welcoming, polite and enthusiastic, happily sharing what they knew about the cars with other teams.

A spokesperson for CAUC said: "During the event, Daphne noticed that one of the race administrators was struggling to put out all of the advertising flags.

"Without being asked, she went over and helped them put them all up. During the awards ceremony, this act of kindness was recognised, and she was awarded a GreenPower badge as an additional recognition of her thoughtfulness and willingness to help others."

The school's motto is "an ambitious school with kindness at the heart of our high expectations".

Ross Tetlow, Car Team teacher said: "I couldn't be happier that the team received this award. It feels especially meaningful given our school motto and the recent focus on kindness and manners.

"The result was a wonderful reminder that success isn't simply about coming first; it is also about how we treat the people around us, supporting others and having the confidence to show kindness when nobody is asking you to.

Ellen Walton, headteacher said: "Our ongoing car club success is testimony to our dedication to making sure that women are represented in STEM."
