Sandbach Walking Festival organisers have thanked walkers who stepped out and took part in the nine day event.

The event came to a close yesterday but even wet weather could not dampen the spirits of those who took part.

Dozens of walkers from all over the town enjoyed a variety of walks during the festival, organised by Sandbach Footpaths Group

Its aim is to protect, improve and extend the network of public footbaths in and around the town, it attracts walkers from far and wide.

A spokesman from Sandbach Footpaths Group said: "It's been a wet final weekend of the festival but we had a good turnout for the final three walks yesterday afternoon even with the rain and the threat of thunder.

"A huge thank you to all who came along during the last nine days and for their positive feedback. We'll be back next year, building on the success of this year, even with the challenges of Covid-19."

The group leads regular walks and anyone who wants to take part or who would like to provide feedback and get involved in next year's festival is urged to get in touch.
