Body found in search for missing man

Police searching for a missing man have found a body.

The body was discovered in a wooded area near to Lily Lane, Byley at around 5.20pm yesterday (Wednesday).

Formal identification has not yet taken place, but it is believed to be that of missing 64-year-old Robert Godfrey.

His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

A spokesman said: "His death is not believed to be suspicious. A case file will be prepared for the coroner."
