A Sandbach pub is throwing its weight behind a campaign to send a local female boxer to Sweden to represent her country.

Kelsey Morrey works at The Military Arms on Congleton Road as well as being a female boxer and she is going to Sweden soon to represent the region and her country.

Now The Military Arms has launched a campaign to raise money to help Kelsey and is asking Sandbach residents and regulars to back them in their fundraising bid.

Kelsey is a member of Holmes Chapel Boxing Club in Station Yard and alongside her own career, she coaches people living with Parkinson's and runs a women's boxing class.

Pub manager, Emma Bateman said: "We're proud to be supporting and sponsoring Kelsey with her upcoming trip to Sweden, where she will be representing the region and competing internationally.

"Kelsey is a valued member of our team and we are incredibly proud that she is from Sandbach, representing both herself, females, our business and the local community on an international stage.

"We are supporting her not only because of her impressive achievements in the ring, but also because of the positive impact she has beyond it."

Since December 2023, Kelsey has competed in 14 fights with eight wins, earning two North West Champion titles and two Women's Winter Box Cup titles.

Alongside her own boxing career, she coaches people living with Parkinson's and runs a women's boxing class — all held at her boxing club in Holmes Chapel - demonstrating dedication, resilience and a genuine commitment to giving back.

Emma added: "She is a true ambassador for the sport, making a real impact both in and out of the ring. We should shout more about the positive impacts young adults are making in our community. Good luck Kelsey!"
