A Sandbach woman who has beaten breast cancer four times is urging as many people as possible to attend an event at Sandbach United Football Club.

The Hind Heath Road club is holding a Breast Cancer Now afternoon tea at the club next Friday (August 16th) to help raise money to fund research and help those affected by breast cancer.

The event is being organised by some of the club's Over 65's coffee morning members who meet once a month at Sandbach United FC volunteers.

Judith Colclough, wife of the club's chairman, Peter Colclough, and one of the helpers at the Over 65s coffee morning club, knows how important the charity is.

The artist has been diagnosed four times with breast cancer, the first time while feeding her son Josh, when he was a baby.

"Everyone knows someone who's had breast cancer or some sort of cancer," said Judith, an accomplished artist.

"It's really important for people to come together and back this sort of research," said Judith who is also urging people, both women and men to check their bodies.

"You know your own body, so you know when something is wrong. Act on your instincts and get something checked out if you're at all concerned."

Next Friday's afternoon tea takes place from 2pm until 4.30 pm and it's hoped to raise around £500 from the event.

"We've got people making bunting and table decorations," said Liz Clark, who also helps run the Over 65s coffee mornings and is helping to run the event.

"They are such a lovely group. The event is a buffet-style afternoon tea and we're hoping to get families, friends and neighbours together for a drink and food.

"We are also having a tombola stall, with lots of lovely prizes to win.

This is a donation only event, we have set a target of £500 which we hope to achieve."

And if you can't make it to the afternoon tea, Judith will be holding her annual Macmillan Cancer Support coffee morning on Friday, September 20th.
