Leader of Cheshire East Council and Sandbach Town councillor, Sam Corcoran, is taking up a new position – as President of the North Staffordshire Symphony Orchestra.

Cllr Corcoran takes over at the helm this weekend when outgoing President Munroe Blair steps down after 23 years in the position.

He said: "I am honoured to have been appointed as President of the North Staffordshire Symphony Orchestra and a little daunted at having to follow in the footsteps of Munroe Blair who has done an amazing job in supporting this wonderful orchestra for many years.

"Stoke should be proud of the North Staffordshire Symphony Orchestra which consistently performs to a high standard. "

The orchestra stages four concerts a year and is staging one on Saturday (November 6th) at 7.30 pm at St Thomas More Catholic Academy concert hall in Longton, Stoke.
