Cheshire East Council is asking residents, business and other organisations in the borough to give their feedback on its plan for the next four years.

The council's new Corporate Plan sets out the vision and priorities for the council, covering the full range of council services, from looking after vulnerable residents to road building and maintenance, inward investment, bin collection and built development.

The vision set out in the draft plan is "Open, Fair and Green", with the aims of:

• An open and enabling organisation;

• A council which empowers and cares about people; and

• A thriving and sustainable place.

• Beneath these aims sits a range of priorities and planned actions.

The plan is the council's overarching strategy. It supports and informs all other council strategies and plans, and the council's work with partners. The council is now asking for your feedback.

Councillor Sam Corcoran, leader of the council said: "One of our key priorities set out in this plan is to 'listen, learn and respond to our residents.' We are taking this opportunity to check in with residents, to help them understand what we plan to do, and why.

"The council is under significant financial pressure and we are still feeling the many impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic. But that makes this a good time to re-evaluate and reset what we are doing.

"I am pleased that there is such a focus on the environment in the plan – the council is committed to be carbon-neutral by 2025 and to support others to reduce their impact on the environment.

"The plan also sets out how we will ensure that the council is an open organisation and how it will create a fairer society and reduce health inequalities in the borough.

"I'm hoping that this will be the start of a better conversation between the people living and working in Cheshire East and the council, as we move together towards an open, fairer and greener future."

Councillor Craig Browne, deputy leader of the council said: "Cheshire East has enormous potential. It's location, landscapes, businesses, towns and villages make this an enviable place to live, work and visit.

"As your council we want to maximise that potential and ensure good, sustainable growth with opportunities for all.

"As a unitary authority, we provide around 500 services to more than 380,000 residents and around 20,000 businesses. The vision and priorities set out in our Corporate Plan will affect everyone living and working in Cheshire East.

"I'd like to invite everyone to get involved and let us know what you think."

If you want to read the draft plan and give your feedback, visit the Cheshire East website. The survey closes on 27 November 2020.
