Sandbach Town Council has announced a vacancy for a councillor for its Sandbach Heath and East ward.

Councillor Gareth Lindop has resigned and his position has been advertised.

The council is waiting to hear whether ten electors have given notice within the 14 days of it being advertised which would mean calling a by-election.

Cllr Lindop said: "I have taken the decision to move back into a career that I feel equally passionate about in education and teaching.

"I am really grateful to the staff, councillors and the public for their support during my time as a councillor. I remain wholly supportive the town council and their work across Sandbach."
