Fire at Sandbach cemetery is thought to have been started deliberately

A fire at Sandbach cemetery on Saturday night (October 12th) is being treated as arson. 

Firefighters from Alsager fire station were called to the cemetery on The Hill at 7.52 pm. 

A spokesperson from Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service said: "A deliberate fire involving cemetery signage was extinguished using a hose reel jet. The incident has been reported to the police." 

A spokesperson from Cheshire Police said: "At 8pm on Saturday 12 October, police were made aware that a noticeboard had been set on fire at the Hill in Sandbach.

"There was no description of the suspect and the fire was quickly extinguished by firefighters."
