Firefighters were called to put out a garage blaze next to the Aldi car park in Sandbach this afternoon.

The incident occurred on Sunnymill Drive with the fire first spotted by a neighbour at around 3:30pm.

Whitney Hamilton, who lives across from the property, told Nub News that she was the first person to notice the blaze and called 999, even before the property owner had realised.

She said fire crews arrived and extinguished the fire by 5:15pm and they left the scene by around 6:45pm.

Whitney described the incident, saying: "At first, it looked like the house had caught fire. I instantly called 999 and ran into the road in panic to grab the owner's attention.

"The fire rapidly spread into the double garage with strong winds extending the flames - It was scary as the fire was roaring but adrenaline helps and I'm so glad everyone is safe and that it didn't spread to other houses."

She added: "Great work Sandbach Fire Services!"

The Cheshire Fire Service has been contacted for further details.
