As Sandbach residents take advantage of an extra May bank holiday, some may not realise that we've got the King's Coronation to thank for that.
However, this year it seems the King has gotten unlucky, as many artists the King has invited to perform have had to turn down the opportunity, due to reasons such as scheduling conflicts.
The team at Betway have looked at the five artists who had to unfortunately miss out on the opportunity to perform at the King's Coronation, along with the reasons why.
Adele
As a beloved chart-topping British artist who's now internationally renowned, it's been reported that The King was very keen to have Adele perform at his coronation.
Unfortunately, Adele's now international status means she couldn't perform due to various scheduling conflicts. Off the back of her number one 2021 record - 30 - Adele has been performing a Vegas residency, which has recently been extended until later this year, so she probably deserves a break.
Ed Sheeran
Apparently, one of the UK's best known songwriters in the world, Ed Sheeran, was approached to perform at the coronation.
The chart topper, however, is committed to playing a show across the pond in Texas the night before, and it doesn't seem like teleportation is an option for the Shape of You singer.
Harry Styles
The internationally renowned star, who received fame after auditioning for The X Factor and subsequently joining the hit band, One Direction, also cannot perform at the Coronation this year.
Instead, Styles will be spending his evening in Coventry, as the UK leg of his worldwide tour titled Love on Tour, visits the Midlands in the same weekend.
Robbie Williams
Robbie Williams is another artist who has turned down a chance to perform at the Coronation, despite the fact that his former Take That bandmates are reuniting for a performance.
Sadly, after only returning to the band for a brief stint in 2010, it seems Robbie wants to leave the band in the past. It's also because he has other arrangements to perform in Mexico in the same week. I wonder how the other band members will Take That?
Sir Elton John
Known most fondly in the UK for his performance of Candle in the Wind at Lady Diana's funeral, one of his good friends, Sir Elton, has also declined an invite to perform for the King.
This, however, is due to scheduling conflicts, with the iconic singer performing in Germany the same week as the Coronation. He is also billed to perform his final UK performance at Glastonbury in June.
