Wet and windy weather didn't put churchgoers off from attending an evening open-air service in Sandbach yesterday (Saturday).

Around 20 people gathered at the Church4All on Ettiley Heath for a fun-filled forest church service to celebrate Candlemass – as winter gives way to spring.

Music, singing, marshmallow toasting on the fire pit and pizza afterwards was part of the celebration.

Edna Lawton, one of the helpers at the event in Elton Road said: "Even the rain didn't dull our spirits. What a great get together."

The event was organised by Helen and Andrew Glendenning . Helen said: "It was such a fun event and I'd like to thank everyone for coming.

"We were celebrating Jesus going to the temple. Thanks to everyone for coming."
