A former pub in Sandbach has finally been bulldozed to the ground – to make way for a new 57-bed care home.

Cheshire East's southern planning committee gave approval to the plan back in August as we reported here

Now the former Limes pub in Sweettooth Lane, which was the subject of vandalism and a fire while empty as we revealed here, has been bulldozed to the ground.

A report from the council's planning officer revealed that the care home proposes to cater for a mix of care options including residential care, dementia and nursing patients.

The Limes, on Sweettooth Lane, has been targeted by vandals on numerous occasions since it closed in 2019.

In May of this year the building was torched by arsonists as we revealed here

The planning application was to build a C2 care home for use with bedroom only, and no apartments.
