Growing chain store set to open brand new shop on nearby retail park
A growing carpets and flooring chain store is set to open a brand new shop on a nearby retail park, replacing a retailer which closed this July.
Tapi Carpets & Floors is set to open inside the former Shoe Zone unit on Grand Junction Retail Park.
Work is currently taking place on-site, with posters placed in the shop windows.
The poster reads: "Tapi Carpets & Floors opening soon. Until we open, your nearest store is Tapi Stoke, Unit 2A, Festival Retail Park, Hanley."
Tapi Carpets & Floors was founded in 2015 by Martin Harris after he left Carpetright, the company his father established.
In the space of eight years, the carpet and flooring retailer has rapidly grown to operate over 170 stores across the UK.
As well as Festival Retail Park, Tapi has nearby stores in the likes of Chester, Warrington and Stockport.
Tapi submitted its plans for Crewe this April, with Cheshire East Planning approving an application for external alterations to the former Shoe Zone store in May.
This has seen the addition of two new glazed sections to either side of the unit's main entrance doors.
Shoe Zone is set to relocate into the former retail park Burger Priest restaurant unit, in-between Costa Coffee and The Works.
With over 200 years combined experience, Tapi's backers include Harris' father, Lord Harris of Peckham, DFS founder, Lord Kirkham, Chicago investor, David Herro and textile manufacturer, Sir Harry Djanogly.
Nub News has contacted Tapi Carpets & Floors for comment.
