Water supply company, United Utilities, has apologised to customers after home and businesses were left without water today (Friday) following problems with the supply.

A United Utilities spokesperson said: "We are investigating reports of no water, or low water pressure in Sandbach. We apologise for the inconvenience and hope to have things back to normal as soon as possible."

Sandbach School in Crewe Road issued a statement on Social Media saying it would be closing early due to the site not having any water.

They said: "We are undertaking a staggered close, after each year group have had their lunch.

"School bus services will still run. An early collection has been arranged. Updates to follow."

Sandbach Primary Academy also in Crewe Road asked parents and carers to collect their children saying: "Due to unforeseen circumstances we have no water and therefore we unfortunately have to close the school. Please collect your child at 1.15 pm from the door between the kitchen and the main office. We are sorry for any inconvenience."

United Utilities put an item on their page here at 12.49 pm saying: "We're currently investigating a problem in your area that may be causing no water or low water pressure. We're really sorry for the inconvenience and are working as quickly as possible to get your taps flowing again.

"We'll continue to monitor the situation to make sure your supply returns to normal as soon as possible.
