An office building in Sandbach town centre is set to be converted into accommodation following approval from council planners.

The three-storey building on Hope Street formerly housed the Hope Sreet Centre, which their website says has now closed.

The application for a change of use was made by Salvatore Capasso to Cheshire East Council in January.

According to the application, the residential property will have three bedrooms and one bathroom.

In their report, the planning officer said: "The site is an unlisted building located within the Town Centre Conservation Area. There are numerous listed buildings in the vicinity.

"Hope street is in the main a commercial street with numerous historic buildings in office use. The immediate vicinity is commercial and the properties share a rear boundary with commercial units that front onto the High Street."

The property has previously been listed as residential before being converted into offices.

Sandbach Town Council raised no objections to the proposals.

The planning officer added: "The proposed development is acceptable in principle and would not have a significant detrimental impact upon neighbouring amenity or highway safety."

The proposals were approved with conditions including that any renovation works must start within three years along with hours on when the work can take place.
