Three fire engines went to a small fire in Sandbach at the weekend thought to have been caused by an instant hot water tap.

Firefighters went to the property in Oldfield Road at 3.02 am on Saturday morning (January 11th).

A Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and using a hose reel jet extinguished a small fire in a property in Sandbach.

"The fire is believed to have been caused by an instant hot water tap that had spread to a garage. All persons were accounted for and one casualty was treated for smoke inhalation by paramedics."
