BBC's Children in Need Pudsey bear came early to Sandbach today (Friday) – after a church coffee morning was put back on the agenda just to raise funds for the cause.

St Peter's Church in Elworth's weekly Friday coffee morning hasn't been held since March last year due to Covid but organisers Mark and Carolyn Barker decided to give it a "Pudsey Bear" boost.

Children in Need 2021 takes place next Friday (November 19th) but Mark And Carolyn decided to try out the popular coffee morning by launching it for a charity.

Two tables of delicious homemade cakes and biscuits, many with a Pudsey bear design, greeted coffee morning goers at the event in the church hall.

Carolyn said: "We are amazed and delighted with the turnout this morning. People who used to come have come back but we've had many new faces too.

"The idea was to kick start the coffee mornings with a charity event and Children in Need fitted perfectly."

Organisers hope raised just over £300 from today's event and are looking forward to holding other coffee mornings in the future.
