Sandbach charity shop volunteer, Pat Arnold, swapped the retail counter for the TV screen when she appeared on a games show.

The bubbly Sandbach woman, who volunteers St Luke's Hospice shop in Congleton Road, appeared on Channel 4's Countdown show.

Pat, who lives in Elworth, is a fan of the TV show and even admits to having the popular games show on her Nintendo.

She told St Luke's Hospice, Cheshire: ""I had the most amazing day – Rachel Riley and Colin Murray were lovely.

"I just love playing the game and practice all the time at home, I even have the game on my Nintendo!

"I especially love the numbers part, which is probably why I enjoy volunteering on the till at St Luke's."

And Pat is likely to be singing about her TV appearance at the top of her voice for as we revealed here, the volunteer also sings in a choral society.
