A dentist who lives in Winterley near Sandbach is celebrating his first year in business - by unveiling new state-of-the-art facilities.

It's nearly a year since Matt Gilks took over Lawton Dental Care in Lawton Road, Alsager in July last year.

Already the dentist, who trained at Liverpool Dental School, has spent nearly £100,000 revamping the popular practice which has customers from all over the area including Sandbach.

The family-run practice now has two treatment rooms plus a host of other improvements including air conditioning and 3D scanning.

And Matt, went to Sir John Dean College in Northwich, has a team of six staff at the practice.

"I set my goal to have my own practice by the time I was 30," he said.

"I've put my own stamp on the practice and used calming colours to cover the walls.

"It doesn't have to be scary coming to the dentist. We pride ourselves on taking our time and getting to know our patients.

"Communication is vital in dentistry and telling patients what's happening.

"My aim was to create a relaxing environment for patients to have treatment."

And Matt, who moved back to the area two years' ago, hasn't ruled out opening another practice in the future.

He said: "It's early days but that's something I may consider."

The Alsager practice has around 1,000 patients on its books, from across the area including Rode Heath, Sandbach and Kidsgrove.

Their website can be found at here and they can also be found on Facebook here
