Karting king: meet Sandbach’s nine-year-old Theo Jepson who's aiming for motorsport glory
By Deborah Bowyer 15th Mar 2026
Elworth Church of England Primary pupil, Theo Jepson, has always had a passion for being in the fast lane.
As a little boy, he would walk around the house carrying two cars in his hands and loved watching a friend go-karting.
Now the lovable youngster is in the driving seat himself, racing round karting tracks all over the country and taking part in championships in his age group.
And when he's not in a go kart, he's practising his moves and getting to know tracks where he'll be racing using a simulator.
Theo's dad, Marc, 42, a global IT lead, works as a DJ in his free time to help fund Theo's big passion which takes up most weekends during the racing season for Marc and his wife, Sasha, Theo's mum.
"We all love watching him and going to events. We've got a custom-built campervan to take with us and a simulator at home where Marc practises," said Marc.

"He's got a busy year ahead with the national championships and we'll be behind him every part of the way. His bedroom is full of trophies. We're so proud of him."
Theo loves watching top F1 drivers like Lewis Hamilton and Lando Norris and enjoys his honing his skills on the karting track.
Both Theo's parents spend the weekends taking him round the country during the racing season and the family is grateful for the support Theo receives from local businesses sponsoring him so he can compete at a high level.
Marc added: "It's quite a costly sport and we're very lucky with our sponsors. Lots of Sandbach companies sponsor Theo which gets their company names around.
"There's new names coming on board all the time which we update on our website. The majority are Sandbach/Middlewich based. It's great local coverage and we're always open to new sponsors coming on board.

For the time being, Theo is sticking to the UK's karting championship tracks which take the Jepsons from one end of the country, Sunderland, to another.
"Theo's always enjoyed karting and has become so good at it. When we watch him race it takes our breath away. He just pulls his helmet on and concentrates on the race. He's very talented."
