A Sandbach dance teacher and her students stepped out in style when they took part in a danceathon on Saturday for charity.

Professional dancer, Kathy Evans, who runs KE Dance and Fitness, danced from 10 am until 10 pm on December 3rd.

And the 57-year-old mother of two donned an Elf costume as she and her classes took part in an Elf Day for the Alzheimer's Society.

"My students are looking forward to wearing Elf costumes. All the money raised from class tuition and lessons will go to the Alzheimer's Society.

"It's such a good cause and something which is close to my heart as my mother has dementia and is in a home."

Kathy, who runs classes in Sandbach and Holmes Chapel, was joined by her daughter, Sophie Thomson, and Sophie's twin six-year-old daughters.

"We' had all kinds of things happening from face painting to a children's tombola.

"I'm hoping to raise around £500 but anything more would be a bonus," said Kathy who lives in Halliwell Court, Elworth.

Kathy set up a Just Giving page for the event which took place at Sandbach Health and Fitness Centre from 10 am until 8pm.

The event then transferred to Byley Village Hall for a grand charity dance from 8pm until 10 pm.

"It's the first time I have done anything like this but I'm hoping to make it an annual event," says Kathy.

"Children have been sponsored to take part. Even the youngest ones are taking it seriously which is lovely to see.

"They're all excited about dressing up. We can't wait to start and get the event going."
