A Sandbach photography group came up with a novel idea to work gain new experience and support conservation and a local business at the same time.

Members of Sandbach Photography Walks are took part in a photography session at Holmes Chapel Zoo today (Sunday) shining a light on the animals and staff at Holmes Chapel Zoo.

And their work will not only expand their porfolio it will also be used to help promote the zoo which recently welcomed three new meerkats into the fold as Sandbach Nub News revealed here .

Kevin Dowey, who runs Sandbach Photography Walks said: "This two-hour meetup isn't just a photography session — it's a chance to create stunning imagery that supports the zoo's community outreach and visibility.

"We're partnering with the zoo to showcase its residents and atmosphere through members' creative eyes. Their photos could be shared by the zoo to help promote conservation, education and local engagement.

"It's a great opportunity for members to gain experience of taking photographs of wildlife close up and see animals in their natural habitat."

Kevin said the group, which he set up around four years ago, has taken part in several photography events but this is one of the more unsual ones.

"We're encouraging people to bring a picnic chair to capture long-lens moments or have a break in between photographing.

"It's such a great amenity to have on our doorstep and we're delighted to be going along."

The event takes place from 10 am until 12 noon at the zoo in Twemlow Lane and tickets can be bought here
