An architectural firm near Sandbach is helping to transform a former bank into an upmarket all-day social dining venue.

Cheshire East Council has granted planning permission for a former bank in Alsager to be transformed into the new business.

The bank was the last to close in the town, remaining empty for more than three years. However, this empty building is now being brought back to life, with a brand-new concept arriving to the heart of Alsager.

The bar and restaurant will be named The Vault, in reference to its former use, and will be a welcome addition to the Caster's of Cheshire Group.

Local architectural business, Daniel Matthias Architecture, who moved from Alsager to premises at New Inn, Newcastle Road,Betchton near Sandbach as reported in Sandbach Nub News here. is supporting the project.

Opening in 2022, The Vault will unlock a new cocktail experience, with top of the range mixology. Here they will deliver contemporary international cuisine, fusing traditional flavour with modern cooking methods and techniques.

Head chef, Adam Steele, will lead this with an array of fine dining experiences in multi-Rosette restaurants.

This includes his time working at Buckingham Palace, Peckforton Castle and The Atlantic Hotel.

Post lockdown, Adam took over as head chef at Churche's Mansion, where he saved them from closure and achieved an appearance in the Michelin guide within his first year of being in charge.

Local business owner, Bradley Lancaster, of the Caster's group, appointed Daniel Matthias Architecture, local to the area, to work in partnership with them to transform their vision into a reality.

The design will consist of an open plan bar and restaurant area; with a bespoke, covered veranda area to the front, to accommodate an alfresco dining experience for all seasons.

Byrne Contracting Services have been appointed to manage the eagerly anticipated construction work.

Dawn Ward, managing director of Arista Design, an award-winning interior design and construction company, will lead the design work for The Vault.

Arista Design specialise in high end residential and hospitality projects worldwide and, with their eye for the exquisite, plan to create a spectacular finished project.

Daniel Matthias said: "Following our involvement with the expansion of Caster's, we were pleased to be invited back for this exciting development.

"Being a small local business ourselves, we strive to support other local ventures and to reuse existing buildings towards sustainable, urban development.

"Despite some noise concerns, there was no objection by the council's environmental health officer and many members of the community took to social media to share their support for the project, following this latest update."

Local business owner, Melanie Rowley shared, 'It's great to see the old Barclays building being used.

"Empty buildings never look good to potential residents or customers to the town. Good luck to The Vault. Flower Passion wishes you every success."
