Legendary Matt Ford hits all the right notes with Sandbach School Big Band

Award-winning vocalist, Matt Ford, is set to delight audiences again tonight (Wednesday) when he appears in Sandbach for the second of a two-night performance.

Sandbach School Big Band is hosting the acclaimed singer, widely regarded as the finest big band singer in the UK, at the second of a two night performance at the Crewe Road School.

The top performer has strong links with the school's big band and was busy rehearsing with the talented musicians yesterday afternoon.

Sandbach School Big Band has worked with many of the country's leading musicians including Georgie Fame and Simon Willescroft (saxophonist with Duran Duran) and Elliot Henshaw (drummer with Tony Christie).

A packed audience watched Matt, who performs all over the country with the likes of Halle, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and the Syd Lawrence Orchestra as well as multiple appearances at the BBC Proms, perform his first show.

Matt was accompanied throughout last night's performance by the Sandbach Big Band commending them throughout saying they are an amazing group of musicians who are on brilliant form .

He sang a selection of great hits from Matt Monro, Frank Sinatra, Andy Williams and Sammy Davis Junior, Tom Jones and Bobby Darin including 'Fly me to the Moon' , 'From Russia with Love', 'Softly as I leave You' and 'For Once in my Life'.

Tonight's concert starts at 7.30pm in Sandbach School Theatre with bar and refreshments available from 6.30pm. Tickets cost £10. The school is in Crewe Road, CW11 3NS.

Matt will be back in the area next month when he performs a Christmas concert with Sandbach's award-winning Foden's Band in Macclesfield.
