Crowds gathered to watch this year's Sandbach Christmas lights switch-on in Market Square tonight (Saturday).

Frantic Fridays entertained the crowds prior to the big count down just before 5 pm with Sandbach Mayor, Councillor Kathryn Flavell, pressing the magic button.

Cllr Flavell thanked everyone involved with the switch-on including Sandbach Town Council and its staff.

And the town's world-famous Foden's Band entertained the crowd afterwards with festive tunes to add to the spark.

At 5pm, the town was lit up including the Christmas tree near the town's War Memorial in the Market Square.

Lights along the town's streets were also lit up at 5 pm marking the beginning of the festive season in Sandbach.

Let the festive season begin in Sandbach!
