Good weather this weekend put a spring in the step for litter pickers near Sandbach who made a clean sweep of the area.

Volunteers from Hassall parish near Sandbach spent time yesterday |(Sunday) collecting waste dropped alongside the grass verges in the parish.

Now they are calling on more volunteers to come forward and take part in the monthly litter picks on the last Sunday of the month.

A spokesman said: "We have many opportunities to volunteer throughout the year, with litter picking, bulb planting, wildflower seed sowing, beautiful flowers planters to maintain and much much more.

"We meet up on the last Sunday of the month 10am at the Notice Board on Alsager Road Hassall or we can provide you will a full kit and you can go out in your own time."
