Local charity concert to celebrate the 'Magic of Musicals' and support Motor neurone disease

A special evening of music from the musicals is coming to Sandbach this weekend in support of the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association Cheshire branch.
The Co-operative Wind Bands presents The Magic of the Musicals by Candlelight at St Mary's Church, Sandbach, on Sunday (20 September) at 7pm.
The event aims to raise funds for the charity while bringing together local musicians and performers for an unforgettable night of entertainment.
The concert is particularly close to the hearts of members of Co-operative Wind Bands as it honours and supports their friend and fellow band member, Lynda, who was diagnosed with MND earlier this year.
Lynda has been a much-loved part of the organisation for many years. She has helped countless young musicians develop their skills through the band's beginner, junior and youth ensembles and has also played clarinet in the adult community band since its formation in 2018.
Her positivity and determination continue to inspire those around her as she enjoys making precious memories with family and friends, supported by the dedicated team at the local MND Association.
In recognition of the invaluable support provided by the Cheshire branch, Co-operative Wind Bands decided to organise a fundraising concert to give something back and help other local families affected by the condition.
The audience can look forward to a programme of music from some of the world's most beloved musicals. The Co-operative Wind Band will be joined by talented singers from Acton AOS, who will perform a selection of iconic songs from the stage.
Adding to the atmosphere of the evening, special guests and friends of the band will also perform a number of pieces on the magnificent church organ, creating a unique and memorable musical experience within the candlelit setting of St Mary's Church.
A spokesperson for The Co-operative Wind Bands said: "The band is particularly grateful to the members of Acton AOS (https://www.acton-aos.com/) for supporting this event.
"The society is currently busy rehearsing for its forthcoming production of The Witches of Eastwick, which will be performed at Crewe Lyceum Theatre this October.
"Despite their demanding rehearsal schedule, Acton AOS singers will be joining the concert and audience members will be treated to an exclusive sneak preview, with performances of a couple of the fantastic songs from The Witches of Eastwick."

A spokesperson for the band said: "Lynda has given so much to our band family over the years, helping young musicians and contributing enormously to our community. We wanted to do something meaningful to support the Cheshire MND Association and recognise the incredible work they do for people living with MND. We hope the community will join us for what promises to be a magical evening of music."
