M6 top of the list for 20 worst roads for speeding offences in Cheshire

Sandbach is only minutes away from the M6 which is top of a list for the 20 worst roads for speeding in Cheshire.

Cheshire Police recorded 47,430 speeding offences in the year ending March 2025, according to new FOI data gathered by Legal Expert.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the M6 was the most likely to catch drivers exceeding the speed limit, with 4,587 offenders caught by police on the motorway.

The five worst speeding offenders were all in Cheshire exceeding the 70mph speed limit doing speeds of 160 mph, 155 mph, 143 mph and 136 mph.

Closer to home, the A50 Knutsford Road, Church Lawton has 589 offences.

As part of the Freedom of Information request, Cheshire Police also revealed the five worst speeding offenders in the region.

All five were caught going well over the national 70mph limit on the M6.

In fact, according to Legal Expert's research, the motorway saw one of the worst speeding offences in the country last year with one driver caught going at 160mph.
