Man, 22, arrested after crash with police car leaves two officers injured

A man has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and GBH with intent after crashing into a Cheshire Police car responding to an emergency incident, leaving two officers injured.

On Saturday 7 June, emergency services were alerted to a crash on Crewe Road, Haslington, outside Ego At The Fox.

Around 12.40pm, Cheshire Fire and Fire Rescue, Cheshire Police and North West Ambulance Service arrived at the scene, discovering an emergency vehicle and a Fiat had collided with one another.

The suspect, a 22-year-old man, has been taken into police custody, pending further enquiries.

A 22-year-old man, has also been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and GBH with intent (Cheshire Police).

Crewe Road remains closed, with motorists urged to avoid the area.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson told Nub News: "At around 12.40pm on Saturday 7 June, a police car responding to an emergency incident was involved in a collision with a car on Crewe Road, Haslington.

"The three occupants inside the vehicles, including two police officers, have been injured as a result of the collision and they are all being treated by paramedics.

"A 22-year-old man, has also been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and GBH with intent.

"Emergency Services remain in attendance at the scene and the road is currently closed in both directions.

"The road closure is expected to remain in place for some time and motorists are urged to avoid the area."
