A man is currently in hospital with minor injuries following a serious two-vehicle near Sandbach, where one of the vehicles caught fire.

On Thursday 9 May, emergency services responded to an incident on Warmingham Road, Crewe, close to its junction with Kents Lane.

The collision involved a red Ford Fiesta and a silver Mazda 2, with the Fiesta catching fire.

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service put out of the flames, with the driver, a 23-year-old woman, not injured in the incident.

The driver of the Mazda, a 46-year-old man, sustained a fracture to his wrist and was taken to hospital for treatment.

His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening or life-changing.

No arrests were made in the incident, with Warmingham Road closed for a short time while the vehicles were recovered.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson told Nub News: "At around 12.13am on Thursday 9 May, officers responded to reports of a road traffic collision on Warmingham Road.

The driver of the Mazda, a 46-year-old man, sustained a fracture to his wrist and was taken to hospital for treatment (Ryan Parker).

"Attending the scene, officers found that the collision involved a red Ford Fiesta and a silver Mazda 2.

"As a result of the collision, the Fiesta had caught alight and a crew from Cheshire Fire and Rescue quickly attended the scene and extinguished the fire.

"The driver of the Fiesta, a 23-year-old woman, was not injured during the incident.

"The driver of the Mazda, a 46-year-old man, sustained a fracture to his wrist and was taken to hospital for treatment. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening or life-changing.

No arrests were made in the incident, with Warmingham Road closed for a short time while the vehicles were recovered (Cheshire Police).

"No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.
