A Sandbach woman has come up with a gem of an idea to use her creative skills.

Chloe Plunkett, who trained as a PE teacher but now works as a nanny, has set up her own business making hand-crafted jewellery.

The 27-year-old came up with the idea after searching for interesting jewellery to take on a summer holiday.

She couldn't really find what she was looking for so set about looking at how she could make her own jewellery.

Chloe from Lee Place started researching how to make exquisite jewellery from polymer clay and launched her own business – Clay Bay.

She set up the business in March 2022 and started doing markets in the August of the same year.

Now she sells at craft markets including Sandbach Makers Market as well as through an on-line shop and to family and friends.

"I've always been really creative and enjoyed making my own things," said Chloe.

"I wear a lot of my own jewellery and find inspiration from looking on-line and at fashion houses such as Zara.

"There's so much you can do by blending colours and looking at new designs. I just love jewellery."

Chloe has set up a room in her home to make her designs which are rolled out using a pasta machine and then baked in the oven for half an hour.

"It's quite a fiddly process but I love doing it and seeing the results," she added.

For the time being, Chloe is keeping her jewellery making to just earrings but is planning to extend the range to other items of jewellery.

Chloe has an on-line shop here and her designs are also on Instagram here
