Meet the postie turned artist who’s got the seal of approval from royalty
A picture of David Bowie is on the wall and other music icons not far away with boxes of pastels and brushes nearby.
A calendar with a horse picture on is nearby, giving a clue to this person's love for both music and animals.
Julie Bramley is no longer pounding the streets as a postwoman or working in Sandbach Royal Mail sorting office –instead she's following her dream as an artist.
And it's that dream which has given the music-loving and animal loving artist a link with royalty – in fact she has letters from both the King when he was Prince Charles and the late Queen.
Julie wrote to the late Queen about her Platinum Jubilee and Prince Charles when the Duke of Edinburgh died.
"I didn't expect to receive replies but I did," said Julie who lives in Sunnymill Drive in Sandbach.
"It was wonderful to have a reply from both," said Julie who sells her artwork at Sandbach Indoor Market on Saturdays as well as through her Facebook page.
Julie started off life as a riding instructor working with horses and has always had a passion for animals, now preferring to illustrate them using pastels.
She sent some of her work to both the late Queen and the then Prince Charles and when the late Queen reached 90 she did a picture of her with a horse.
"I've always loved being outside which is probably why I enjoyed my post job," said Julie whose other passion is music.
A fan of Alice Cooper and David Bowie, she has illustrated both as well as a host of other music icons.
"When I'm working I usually pop You Tube on and play some of their music," said Julie who now works from a kitchen table.
"I get plenty of light in here and it's a good place to work." she said.
Julie thinks she got her artistic streak from her grandfather, Thomas Williams, who ran a DIY shop and was creative.
"He could make anything out of rubbish and was just very creative," she said.
Julie has also illustrated a book, "When Animals Came to Moscow" and now does animal portraits, taking commissions for them.
In a previous life, some of Julie's work hung up in Sandbach's sorting office reception where customers waiting could see her talents on display.
Now Julie's work is available from her Facebook page or from her weekly stall at Sandbach Indoor Market on Saturdays.
