Main road in Sandbach closed in both directions after crash between car and motorcycle

UPDATE: Middlewich Road in Sandbach is now fully open.

One of the main roads in Sandbach is currently closed is both directions due to a crash earlier today (Wednesday).

Police were called to Middlewich Road at 6.24 am and found there had been a collision between a white Mercedes A200 and a black motorcycle near to the junction of Moorland Road.

A spokesperson from Cheshire Police said: "The rider of the bike is believed to have sustained serious injuries and has been taken to hospital. The driver of the car was uninjured.

"Officers remain in attendance at the scene and the A533 Middlewich Road is currently closed in both directions between Park Lane to Abbey Road. Local diversions are in place, but motorists are urged to avoid the area.

"Enquiries in relation to the collision are ongoing and anyone with any information or video footage which may aid the investigation is asked to contact Cheshire Police on 101, or visit www.cheshire.police.uk/tell-us quoting IML-2277530."
