Bridgemount Developments has submitted an outline planning application for a new residential development in the heart of Holmes Chapel.

The Cheshire-based developer wants to regenerate a 3.41-hectare brownfield site off London Road, close to the village centre.

Fallow for over 20 years, the underutilised site is now set to be reimagined as a sustainable new community.

Plans submitted by Asteer Planning on behalf of Bridgemount Developments outline an indicative housing mix comprising two- to five-bedroom dwellings in a variety of types, including townhouses, bungalows, semi-detached and detached units.

The development will also feature new play areas, greenway footpaths and ecological habitats to enhance local biodiversity.

Howard Hagan, Managing Director of Bridgemount Developments, said: "Since acquiring the site in 2022, we've been committed to delivering a scheme that genuinely reflects the aspirations of the Holmes Chapel community.

"Last summer, we held a public consultation event and invited residents to share their views on our early proposals. The feedback we received was incredibly valuable and has played a key role in shaping this application.

"Our goal is to create a thoughtfully designed neighbourhood that offers quality new homes, helping more individuals and families put down roots in Holmes Chapel."

The project has undergone extensive community engagement, including discussions with Holmes Chapel Parish Council, Brereton Parish Council and local ward councillors.

Bridgemount Developments' public consultation exercise drew responses from over 170 local residents.

Subject to securing outline planning permission for the proposals, it is envisaged that construction could commence in late 2026.

Bridgemount Developments is a division of Urban Waterside, a privately owned property development company based in Hale.

Established in 1981, the company takes its name from its role as the principal developer of the first phase of the Manchester Docks regeneration, now known as Salford Quays.
