Today (November 24), AFC Crewe told Nub News their publicity had 'gone crazy' following the approach to Cristiano Ronaldo (AFC Crewe).

In a social media post, AFC Crewe said: "We can confirm that the club has made an official approach to sign free agent Cristiano Ronaldo on a one year deal.

"Should Cristiano accept the offer, he would become AFC Crewe's highest paid player, taking home £35 per week."

The 37-year-old's departure from Manchester United came after the Portugal striker claimed he was being "pushed out" by Manchester United bosses.

A follow-up statement read: "The train from Piccadilly to Crewe is £14.90 return.

"Our offer ensures he can afford the trip plus either an Upper Crust at Crewe station or a pint after the game. We eagerly await your response."
