Staff from Sandbach's Old Hall are pulling on their walking boots and putting their best foot forward to climb Snowdon for charity.

Deputy manager, Charlie Miller, chef, Richard Cooper and waitress Grace Henderson, are taking part in Brunning and Price's 'Snowdon 6' challenge tomorrow (Tuesday).

The three are joining around 50 others from Brunning and Price to do the challenge which consists of six different routes up Snowdon, 3,000 metres of climbing and a total of 24 miles in one day.

They are doing the challenge for the Burnt Chef Project, whose slogan is 'Not all heroes wear capes, some work in hospitality'. The charity offers mental health support for the UK hospitality trade.

Charlie said: "We're starting at 4 am tomorrow, so it's an early start and we've got 15 hours to do the challenge.

"We should have a perfect view when we get to the top. The charity is so important for this industry.

"Chefs can be on their feet for 13 and 14 hours a day and it's very male-dominated.

"Raising awareness of mental health is so important."

Charlie has been training for tomorrow's event by walking and running and also carefully watching his diet.

"We're all looking forward to it and are having a de-brief and celebration at the bottom when we finish."

The Old Hall team has set up a JustGiving page to make donations – the link is here: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/old-hall?fbclid=IwAR3O3OorFJxHTkGRlbq8YEQXWPSjL17Vzm1AwemfUOuGFswl36sWR-guHOU
