All eyes are on Sandbach's Olympic snowboarder, Mia Brookes, who will compete in the slopestyle event at the Winter Olympics next week for Team GB.

And none more than staff at Elworth Hall Primary School in Sandbach where the 19-year-old started off her educational journey before going on to Sandbach High School and Sixth Form College.

Emma Clark, headteacher at Elworth Hall Primary School in Lawton Way, said she is pleased her school was part of Mia's journey.

She told how Mia threw herself into whatever was put in front of her and even at a young age her sporting ability was evident.

Emma said Mia was the school's cross-country team winner two years in a row and the school was "so proud" of her.
