Sandbach's world-famous Foden's Band has played its final rehearsal in the place it's called home for the last nine years.

The award-winning brass band, whose origins date back to 1902, has been based in a room at the former Bradwall Village Hall near Sandbach since 2016.

But due to new plans at the popular Bradwall Bakehouse, based at the former Bradwall Village Hall, they packed up their instruments and held their final rehearsal in the quaint spot in Bradwall last weekend.

And it's not just instruments and equipment the band whose website is here will be taking with them - they will also be collecting the various bits of regalia which make up the band's 'Heritage Centre'.

A spokesperson for the band said: "The hall has been home to the band since August 2016 where they have won numerous National, British Open & Brass in Concert titles which has secured their position as the world's number one brass band. 

"Due to a 'change of use' the band were served notice a number of months ago and have used this time to source a new rehearsal facility to keep the band in Sandbach (which has been their home since 1902).

"The band are delighted to have sourced new premises, with further details to be released shortly.

"Foden's would like to thank Edward Barlow (Bradwall Bakehouse) for allowing the band usage of their premises for the past nine years."

But it wasn't all sadness for the band last weekend, for they were crowned North West area champions for the ninth time at Blackpool as we revealed here
