'People power' wins the day for Sandbach mum who gets playground fixed
By Deborah Bowyer 24th May 2026
A Sandbach mum has used 'people power' to get a playground near her home fixed so her daughter and other children can now use it.
Ania Stanik was so fed up with her two-year-old daughter, Sophia, slipping over and not being able to use Forge Fields Play area which is walking distance from her Wheelock home, that she took to Social Media.
The mum, who moved to Sandbach from Bowden four years ago and lives in Marriott Road with her husband, took to Facebook and contacted one of her ward councillors, Councillor Simon Richards.
Cllr Richards, who represents Ettiley Heath and Wheelock, passed the request on to the ranger at Sandbach Town Council who set to work clearing the playground and bringing it into a useable state.

Ania said: "I'm so grateful for everything that's been done there. It is fantastic and looks so much better. It was very slippery before and my daughter fell over which wasn't great.
"It's a lovely playground and we enjoy coming to it. It's so good that it's been brought back to life. "
Now Ania and Cllr Richards are hoping residents can get together moving forwards and look after the play area to ensure it stays in the same condition.
Cllr Richards said: "There was a huge difference at Forge Fields play area when I went down. Massive thanks must go to the Sandbach Town Council Ranger for her work.
"Good to speak to a few more residents about getting involved to help maintain the play area going forwards."
