A community group fundraising for a playing field in Sandbach has highlighted the importance of the facility.
And the group has reissued its plea for local residents to join its fundraising campaign, the '100 Club' to ensure the field is maintained and improved.
Ettiley Heath Playing Field was left to the local community in the 1950s by salt firm, Palmer Mann.
It's now mainly used by dog walkers and as a handy cut through to the local convenience store, although once it hosted football matches.
Recently a local resident's young grand-daughter was reunited with her missing sock - thanks to the notice board on the field.
"This gentleman has taken his granddaughter out in the pushchair across the field and her sock had fallen off," said Kathryn Sim, Ettiley Heath Playing Field committee secretary
"A kind person had found the sock, pinned it to the notice board. A few days later, when this gentleman walked past, he found it and was able to reunite his granddaughter with it.
"It's this kind of community spirit which exists in the area and we want to ensure the field is used by as many people as possible."
Ettiley Heath Playing Field committee has launched its '100 Club', a monthly drawer which sees people pay just £12 a year or £1 a month to enter with first, second and third prizes.
If you would like to buy a ticket or volunteer to help at future events, the group can be contacted through by Facebook here or by emailing [email protected].
