A leading UK sports-fashion retailer has confirmed when it will be relocating to a bigger Crewe store - more than double its current size.

JD Sports has today (August 3), confirmed to Nub News it will be moving to the Grand Junction Retail Park later this month.

Crewe's current JD Sports store, Queensway, retails from 2,000 sq ft.

JD Sports will be opening inside the former Poundstretcher unit, totalling more than 6,000 sq ft - later this month (Ryan Parker).

It is due to close at the end of this month - just ahead of the new store opening.

JD confirmed its new sports store will be over 6,000 sq ft in size - moving inside the former Pound stretcher unit.

A JD Sports spokesperson told Nub News: "We are excited to open our new Crewe store later this month, which will be more than double the size of our current store.

"It will give customers access to a wider range of fantastic sportswear and fashion."

JD Sports will be closing down its Crewe town centre store this August - just before the new retail park store opens (Google).

JD Sports believe the bigger location will provide the opportunity to present a wider offering of sportswear and fashion to Crewe customers.

This development has taken approximately six months since JD Sports confirmed its Crewe relocation.

In March, a JD Sports spokesperson told Nub News: "I can confirm that JD is moving into a bigger store on the retail park later in the summer."

Work has been going on inside the new JD Sports unit since the beginning of May.

JD Sports first confirmed the Grand Junction Retail Park Move in March. Work has been going on inside since May (Ryan Parker).

Earlier this week, PureGym told Nub News it remained optimistic in being able to deliver a 24-hour gym to the Grand Junction Retail Park.

A PureGym spokesperson said: "Subject to planning permission, the state-of-the-art gym will be located at the Grand Junction Retail Park and will be open 24/7."

Cheshire East Council is still accessing whether a gym is appropriate for the former Sofology unit.

Another potential addition to the Grand Junction Retail Park is Matalan.

In May, the British fashion and homeware retailer submitted a planning application to construct illuminated signage at the former Harveys retail park unit.
