A new post office has opened in a village near Sandbach – inside a church! 

Goostrey Post Office officially opened inside Goostrey Methodist Church today (Monday). 

The new venue, at 178 Main Road, is just 60 metres away from the former venue at 168 Main Road which was no longer available.

Villagers have warmly welcomed the new venue, many turning out today to see their new-look post office. 

Sandbach Nub News told here how the church was undergoing work and a new ramp and door installed at the entrance for the new facility. 

A Post Office spokesperson said: "The outreach Post Office will continue to be provided by the Postmaster for Plumley. 

"There is a dedicated Post Office serving position within the Methodist Church.

"This church has undergone works and a new ramp and door have been installed at the entrance. Internally, there will be a hearing loop and room for a wheelchair. 

"The opening hours will remain as Monday: 12.30 pm – 5pm, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday: 2.30 pm – 5pm." 

"Similar products and services will continue to be available including Vehicle Tax and Euros On Demand Travel Money." 

 Villager Shelagh Madden said: "It's fantastic that we've got this facility and it's still in the village."
